We aim to raise awareness for affordable options for cancer screening in order to promote early cancer detection for every family across Austin.
Cancer screening is a method that not only allows for detection of cancer, but it also is a prevention tactic. Oftentimes, people aren’t aware of the frequency at which cancer screenings should be done and miss out on the opportunity of early detection. If we can promote more awareness of early detection cancer, we can catch this disease at an earlier stage, making it more manageable for healthcare professionals to treat. Additionally, screening is often free or covered by health insurance, so taking advantage of this could change your life.
Cancer screening allows for early cancer detection for some common cancers. This is important because screening can eventually prevent cancer, making it a powerful tool in many adults’ lives.
Aarya is a current 11th grader at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy High School in Austin, Texas. She is passionate about targeting public health disparities in her community and strives to educate all who are unaware of their options for early cancer detection.
